The unique history of Loha Prasat

Each week we post a link to an article in Bangkok 101 - and today the article we link to is about the unique history of Loha Prasat – the ‘Iron Temple’ OR the ‘Monastery of the Royal Niece’ - https://www.bangkok101.com/wat-ratchanatdaram/. Original words by Joe Cummings and CPS Media.

Wat Ratchanatdaram is a large area not always visited as much as the Golden Mountain Temple just over the river. Expect to make a visit and see no tourists.

The Loha Prasat - https://goo.gl/maps/Fc6YMTM7KEq - is known for its tier of 37 golden towers (they were originally black) and the number 37 represents the 37 factors of enlightenment cultivated by the bodhisattavas (Buddhist saints or Buddhists-to-be).

Make an entrance during the day and marvel at the beauty of this special building with seemingly endless corridors and spiral staircases. Reach the top and admire the view that you have – we are told that night time viewing was amazing but unfortunately they no longer open in the evening.

The grounds behind the Loha Prasat but in the grounds of Wat Ratchanatdaram have vendors selling an interesting collection of occult objects – worth a visit if that interests you.

If you visit #Bangkok stay with us at Cape House Hotel - or Kantary House - and here’s a maphttp://bit.ly/2qiOvYm
