Rayong - flute-playing prince, mermaid and a female giant

Cape+Kantary is a magazine that you will find in all the Cape and Kantary Properties. In every edition, there is always an article that we like to share.

In this edition - http://www.capekantaryhotels.com/ckmagazine/Issue13/index.html  - (Pages 40 - 43) one writer visited Rayong, stayed with us at Kantary Bay Rayong - and visited the Ocean Butterfly Giant Shrine only two hundred metres away from us.

There was a Thai poet called Sunthorn Phu (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sunthorn_Phu) - often referred to as the ‘Shakespeare of Siam’ and he lived a life as captivating and fantastical as the stories he wrote. In Koh Samet there are statues of a flute-playing prince, a mermaid and a female giant (http://www.thaizer.com/tourist-attractions/why-are-there-statues-of-giants-mermaids-and-pipers-on-ko-samet/) who are all characters in the famous Thai poem Phra Aphai Mani - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phra_Aphai_Mani

A tale full of battles, betrayals and magical transformations….
Visit Rayong to see all the statues and stay with us at Kantary Bay - https://www.kantarycollection.com/kantarybay-rayong/#
